Breakfast is my favorite meal and I’ve always found it difficult to find decent places in Brooklyn that serve breakfast 7 days a week that aren’t diners. I stumbled upon Dumbo General Store after leaving Bubby’s because I missed that 11am deadline for breakfast. Don’t judge it was a late night. I walked in past their 11:30am deadline and after a little schmoozing the waitress was kind enough to check with the kitchen and I got to get my breakfast on. Score! Is it considered brunch if it’s a Wednesday? Who cares it felt like a lazy Sunday afternoon in there. I ordered this really interesting dish called “Egg in a Cloud”. I’ve had eggs in a nest, but never in a cloud so I had to go for it. This dish was pretty creative. It was a baked egg yolk floating on whipped egg whites, fontina cheese, smoked ham and toasted brioche, it was served with sauteed spinach. I would go back for it. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this place, but if you order this dish you can’t go wrong. It was egg-cellent! Wow, I need some sleep. Go try my delicious discovery at Dumbo General Store.
