The outside of this place is nothing much to look at, but its a hip little pizza joint nestled between a bunch of warehouses and run down industrial buildings and lofts in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The inside boasts the minimalistic approach to decor. The chairs are all mismatched and there are long tables for a communal seating type setting. Random vintage mirrors haphazardly hung on the walls and strings of soft white lights dance across the white concrete brick walls. This place is so Brooklyn. I think I even saw a pogo stick hanging on the wall somewhere (maybe that was the beer?). There is one small bar inside and the outside patio has more seating and another “tiki” bar. They’ve even managed to turn an old Cadillac into a planter on the outside patio. In the middle of all this “organic” decor, is a wood burning oven. Duh. How else would they be cranking out this awesome pizza?

The pizza’s are a decent size about 12-14 inches and the crust is thin, airy and crunchy. They use seasonal ingredients and each pizza is creative, lip-smacking and bold in flavor. Even the classic Margherita pizza, which is mozzarella cheese, tomato and basil is delicious. Some of the other favorites are the White and Greens pizza, which is mozzarella, parmesan, market greens and lemon. Also, the Beastmaster, which is tomato, mozzarella, gorgonzola, pork sausage, onion, caper and jalapeño. Don’t skip any of these. Trust. These little discs of deliciousness come out piping hot and bubbling, all the ingredients are so fresh and the wood burning oven adds that little smokey charred pizza flavor that we all love. You can even grab a salad or a pasta dish for dinner, which are as equally tasty. There are refreshing choices like the cucumber salad with Calabrian chili and bronze fennel. Even if you aren’t a fennel lover, you will find this summer salad quite invigorating.

What goes together more than pizza and beer? It’s like peanut butter and jelly or mac and cheese. There are a range of seasonal draft beers which, of course, rotate on the regular from domestic craft brewers. In addition to the draft choices, Roberta’s has a line up of fun eclectic can and bottle selections as well. Roberta’s possesses that “we don’t take ourselves too seriously” mentality when it comes to the beer selection. They aim to please a broad beer drinking palette and you can find a ton of fun beers to wash down these out of the box pizzas (unless you take them to go). Most pizzas range anywhere in price from $9-17 and you will not be disappointed.

Roberta’s is now also making bread. Bread as in money, but also bread as in baking. They are offering in-house baked loaves of bread and you can get them in various locations throughout the city. The breads are also available for wholesale. What can’t they do? Get to Roberta’s.
