4 Great Food Events Happening this Week

Winter is long gone and the torrential rain seems to have finally stopped, which means (hopefully) that warm weather is officially here to stay. So no more excuses to stay in, binging on Netflix and Seamless. Change out of those sweats and head out the door to one of these great foodie events happening this week.

Tuesday, June 9

Head down to Pig & Khao on the Lower East Side for Chefs Leah Cohen and Hung Huynh’s special “Vietnam Voyage” dinner. Cohen, who recently returned from Vietnam, has developed a five course dinner with dishes from many of the country’s biggest cities, like Saigon, Hanoi, Phu Quoc, and Hue. $65 a ticket, and you can book online.

Thursday, June 11

Xixa in Williamsburg will be celebrating Chantal Martineau’s new book, How the Gringos Stole Tequila, with a tequila and mezcal tasting dinner. The multi-course meal will be paired with yummy signature cocktails. Tickets run $65 a person and you can book a spot through the restaurant.

Or, if tequila ain’t your thing, head to the Flatiron where Hill Country Barbecue Market will be hosting some of the country’s best pitmasters, including Mike Mills of 17th Street Barbecue, Billy Durney of Hometown Barbecue, and Hill Country Barbecue’s very own Charles Grund Jr. The panel runs from 7 – 8pm, tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door and proceeds benefit the Madison Square Park Conservancy. You can nab tickets online.

Friday, June 12

Del Frisco’s Grille in Rockefeller Center and Captain Lawrence Brewery are teaming up to host a party to kick off the summer season from 5 – 8pm. Tickets are $80 and get you all the house-made Pale Ale you can drink, along with tasty bites like Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Ahi Tuna Tacos, and NYC Pretzel Burger Sliders. Tickets can be purchased through the restaurant.
