What is the Bourbon and Bacon Fest?

Only four fortunate cities in our great nation were graced with the first-annual Bourbon and Bacon Festival, but we’ve got the dish on what went down.

The four-city tour started in Denver in January, made its way to Austin the month after, Seattle in March, and ended in Portland just last Saturday. And the finale in Portland was something to see, with partners like: Four Roses Bourbon, Woodford Reserve, Bulleit Bourbon, Beam Suntory, and more.

Bacon and bourbon are both hot commodities in our country right now. But why the two together?

“Because sex, obviously,” Chessa Fait, a representative from partner, Andina, told a Huffington Post reporter on-site. “But seriously, it’s the greatest combination ever.” She scooped up servings of Andina’s lucuma ice cream (imported from Peru) infused with bourbon and bacon bits.

To that point, Troy Turner, co-founder of Tatoosh Distillery in Seattle, said, “Bacon and bourbon are medicinal, baby.” Oh yeah? “Bourban has the sweetness, bacon has the acidic and salty flavor.” Yeah. Now we’re talkin’.

So whether you’re into a straight shot of bourbon, bacon-infused bourbon, bourbon blondies, bacon wrapped jalapeños, PB&B sandwiches (you can guess what the second B stands for), bourbon-bacon cinnamon rolls, bourbon-bacon ice cream, maple bacon cupcakes, bacon lollipops, or any other beautifully boozy and indulgent delight… Bourbon and Bacon Fest has it all.

And we can only hope (wish, dream, AND pray) that next year it’ll land in our city.
