‘Tender’ is the Tinder for Food

Let’s be real, food is the true love of my life — forever and always. And I know I’m not alone.

Now we can score an amazing meal as opposed to an awkward date via the Tender app.

As with Tinder, this new app lets users to swipe right to approve or swipe left to reject a dish based upon the photo. All of a user’s right-swiped shots are sent and stored to his or her ‘Cookbook’ to be referred to whenever they are looking for a recipe. Tender is also equipped with options to filter your results when you have a crazy craving or specific ingredient in mind to use, like vegan, vegetarian, dessert, chicken, beef, seafood, and so on.

Jordan Homan designed the app along with his college roommates, David Blumenfield and Necco Ceresani. “As a twenty-something, we are all constantly combating the impulse to just eat-out or pick something up,” Homan told Boston.com. “But Tender gets you psyched about the prospect of making food, and it makes it easy to do so.”

While the app, which launched earlier this month on iOS and Android, is certainly targeted for millennials, it’s been super successful with a tech-savvy older demographic of food fanatics, as well. According to Homan, Tender is still being modified in order to make it more user-friendly. They’re working on adding an undo button, filters for meals (like breakfast, lunch and dinner), and the ability to account for food allergies.

So go on, swipe right for food.
