We just thought this was cool. So you walk into the swanky, somewhat intimidating, five-star hotel lobby of Le Parker Meridien Hotel in midtown Manhattan and follow yellow neon burger signs to a tiny hidden back room burger shack. There are only like 30 seats max and random posters and writing fill up the walls of this dark, dingy burger joint. If you come during peak hours you will have to be patient because the wait for one of these little burgers can become quite long, but the cool factor is so worth it.
The covert, cool location is the main draw and the burgers are simple, but good. Nothing fancy, despite it’s place in a fancy hotel. We liked the simple approach to the burger with a no fuss, no “special” sauces, just lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard attitude. The fries were thin and salty and packed a powerful crunch. They were actually reminiscent of McDonald’s fries (if we dare say that) but, whatever, who doesn’t love McDonald’s fries anyway?
We waited about 15 minutes for the burger, and be forewarned, that they are cash only and the burger will run you about 10 buckaroos. If you get other stuff, be ready to spend about 15-20 bucks a person (especially if you get beer). So, factor all of this into your budget. If nothing else, bring some friends here from out of town, nothing will make them feel as cool as going home telling people they ate at a hidden burger joint in NYC. Probably.
