Amidst all the great ice cream options popping up around the city this summer, Dominique Ansel’s new West Village soft serve operation is a sure fire must-try. The ice cream counter is located within the 7th Avenue Dominique Ansel Kitchen, and will serve unique and delicious soft serve flavors every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12pm until 9pm (or until supplies run out, which may very well happen often, so best get there early). And, for those of you who might need more convincing, let me remind you that Mr. Ansel, true hero of the 21st century, invented the Cronut. That alone should be reason enough to get your butt down to 7th Avenue to try his new frozen treats.
Ansel is currently serving up two distinct flavors, but the Burrata is certainly getting the biggest hype. Served with balsamic caramel, basil leaves and a surprise strawberry confit, even the skeptics will have to agree cheese-flavored ice cream can be amazing. His other, equally delicious sounding, flavor is Gianduja (a sweet Italian chocolate with hazelnuts) with salted hazelnut brittle sprinkled on top along with orange mist and sea salt. Yum. And best of all, they make their cones in house. Nothing like a freshly baked cone to go with some amazing ice cream.
Portions are large and each flavor is $7 regardless of if you get it in a cone or a cup (so you might as well get that gone, amarite?)
