Since opening in January, SRO, New York City’s only Pizza Speakeasy, has been a much sought-after dining spot with a $38 set three-course tasting menu with drink pairings. However, due to high demand and just in time for summer, master pizza-pie-er Giulio Adriani has announced a new a la carte menu, with individual pizzas starting at $14 a pie. To kick off this new menu, Adriani has introduced a number of delicious new seasonal pizzas, with choices like “First Ave” (bufala mozzarella, ricotta, sun gold tomatos, and basil), “Second Ave” (anchovies, fresh Sicilian oregano, bufala mozzarella, and cherry tomatoes), and the “Bleecker” (nduja spicy sausage, sheep-milk ricotta, caciocavallo and San Marzano tomatoes). The menu will also feature many of his tried and true creations, so if you’ve been before and have a favorite, you’ll still be able to snag a slice. And if you’re interested in the tasting menu, that’s still an option, too.
SRO has also reworked it’s reservations systems, and will no longer accept reservations for parties of less than 8 people. Walk-in customers can check out the “No Vacancy” sign on Bowery to see if there’s any available seating. And in case you might miss it, the door to SRO is hidden inside 334 Bowery –hey, it is a speakeasy, after all, gotta maintain some air of secrecy.
