Burgers are a big favorite here in the good ‘ol US of A, but they are often not the most healthy of choices, for your body or for the environment. But if you’re in the market for a healthier, more sustainable meat treat, why not try the French Onion Burger at The Ainsworth. As part of the James Beard Foundation’s “Better Burger Project,” The Ainsworth, along with numerous restaurants around the country, has reworked their burger to include 25% mushrooms. This not only creates an uber tasty and juicy burger, but reduces calories, fat, and sodium while adding the great nutrition mushrooms provide (like B vitamins, potassium, and vitamin D). Plus, less meat means less toll on the environment. Win, win, win.
And if you’d like to learn how to make a delicious mushroom-tastic burger, complete with a crunchy fried onion ring, The Ainsworth has shared their recipe with us. Woohoo! Check it out below and learn how to make a better burger, just in time for all those summer bbq’s.
