If we could use one word to describe this place, it would be swag. Its got an iron and brick exterior, the inside has some small tables, and two bars with a crap ton of exposed brick and gorge leather. The back room is the hidden gem, so if you can eat in there try to score a spot. This secret room looks like someone’s living room with plush mismatched couches and a tiny corner fireplace. It’s really cozy.
Brunch has been the biggest hit here for so many reasons. First of all the cocktails are really creative, so if you are nursing that weekend hangover they have all you need to be feeling in tip top shape. They categorize their drinks into sections such as “sours & daisies”, “beat the heat”, “collins and fizzes”, “juleps and smashes” (I think you get the point, they have a ton of drinks). One of the beat the heat drinks is the La Sonambula, which is jalepeño-infused tequila, lemon juice, chamomile tea syrup, Peychaud’s bitters, soda, and mole’ bitters (how the hell do you make mole’ bitters?). Let’s be real. Anyways, speaking of heat, some of their brunch dishes come out piping hot in gorgeous cast iron skillets, like their baked eggs with truffle and leeks, comprised of two eggs baked over melted leeks and topped with a truffle butter. This cast iron skillet of deliciousness comes on a slate board with some beautiful sour dough toast and a little peppery arugula. The presentation and taste of this dish are both quite impressive. If you like bacon (who doesn’t?), they have an awesome bacon tasting. Its a selection of three styles of thick cut bacon; maple bacon, black pepper bacon and duck bacon. All of these are made in house and a good reason to just eat straight up bacon. You’ll be bacon for more (bad joke).
They also offer omelettes, pancakes, and all of the “traditional” brunch items coupled with fried chicken and tomato and watermelon salad. So, if you’re in the mood for traditional or non traditional brunch, Clover Club offers something for everyone. The prices are around $14 for a dish and around $10 for a cocktail. No unlimited mimosas or bloodys here, but it’s worth the extra pocket change. It will probably run you about $30 a head for brunch so factor that into your weekend budget. Go get lucky at the Clover Club.
