How to Make an Omelette (Video)

Don’t be afraid to make an egg omelette. There are so many ways to make one, but we’ve done the easiest one for you so that you don’t have to sweat over it. You can make a fancy French omelette, which is not as easy and takes some serious practice. This omelette we’ve made for you is considered a country omelette and one that is more commonly used. There is color on the eggs and it is folded in half rather than rolled with no color on the eggs. Don’t worry, this one is easy and delicious.

What You Need

  • Eggs (duh)
  • Butter
  • Whatever you want to fill this puppy with (cheese, veggies etc)
  • A non-stick pan
  • Heat-proof spatula
  • A whisk (or fork, if you don’t own a whisk)
  • A bowl

How to Make

  1. Crack your eggs into a bowl.
  2. Whisk eggs to incorporate them until they are a pale yellow.
  3. Turn your burner on medium heat and melt your cooking fat (butter/oil/etc.).
  4. Add your eggs to pan slowly.
  5. Let sit in pan for 30 seconds or so to let them begin to set.
  6. Using a heat-proof spatula, carefully pull the set curds towards the middle of the pan allowing the liquid to come out of the center and come into contact with the pan and cook as well.
  7. Once the center of your omelette is still wet but the rest of the eggs are set, add your fillings to the middle.
  8. After 30 seconds or so pass, lift your pan and push the omelette to one side and fold over using your spatula.
  9. Allow to cook for another minute or so.
  10. Invert your pan and flip your omelette over onto your plate. This part may take some practice to get right. You can do it! If not, just scoot it out of the pan onto your plate with your spatula.

Good luck!
