How to Poach an Egg (Video)

Hey guys! Perfectly poached eggs can seem intimidating to some, but we have a fool-proof method that you can use every time. Go ahead and throw a brunch party and whip up some nice benedicts with confidence after watching this video. All you need is a little simmering water and vinegar and some eggs. Get crackin’.

What You Need

  • A shallow pot
  • About 3 inches of simmering water
  • About 2 tablespoons of white vinegar
  • A slotted spoon
  • A cup

How to Make

  1. Fill your pot with about 3 inches of water
  2. Add your vinegar and bring to a simmer (not a full boil)
  3. Crack your eggs into a cup or another container so you don’t break the yolks in the water
  4. Carefully pour your eggs into the simmering water and poach about 2-3 minutes
  5. Carefully remove from the water with your spoon and place on a paper towel to drain off water
  6. Salt, pepper and serve! Quick Tip: If you want to make multiple eggs, you can hold these in an ice bath and reheat all together in simmering water for a minute before serving!
