This is one of those recipes for everyone out there who feels like they can’t bake and needs to come up with a quick, ridiculously delicious and easy dessert. Or if you just want something cold and sweet to snack on.
Panna cotta is a wonderful way to showcase any seasonal fruit you may find at your farmer’s market or local grocery store. If you don’t know what panna cotta is, well, it’s an Italian dessert made by simmering together cream, milk and sugar. You have to add some gelatin to make it an almost pudding-like texture and it’s sweet, delicious, and such a cinch to make. You can add some vanilla and serve it with your favorite fruit or coulis.
This is one dessert that requires no baking and you can basically just use a sauce pan and less than 5 ingredients. The only lengthy part of this dessert is that you have to let it chill so the gelatin can set, which takes about 3-4 hours. So once you assemble this in about ten minutes, you can put it in the refrigerator, walk away, and forget about it for a bit. If you are throwing a large party, panna cotta is an easy dessert to make in large quantities so you’ll be able to feed everyone. We like to serve ours with raspberries, caramel sauce and, sometimes, even some sea salt. Whipped cream (you can see our video on how to make home-made whipped cream here if so inclined) is also really wonderful with panna cotta and you will impress your guests. You can’t go wrong or mess this dessert up. Just use caution your heat isn’t too high so you don’t burn your cream.
