In an interview with the Post, Ken Friedman (of the Spotted Pig in the West Village), essentially confirmed that he and partner April Bloomfeld will be opening a 4 story restaurant in the Financial District at 70 Pine St.
“We hope we are doing this extraordinary project. This is one of New York’s most beautiful buildings and the top floors are breathtaking. I’ll let you know as soon as we are definitely doing it,” writes Friedman.
The building he’s referring to is a 66 story luxury apartment building called, oddly enough, 70 Pine. The building is opening in Winter of 2015 so it’s probably safe to assume that – if they are doing the restaurant – it’ll be opening around then as well. The new restaurant would not just be in the building, but at the top four floors (and at a 952 ft tall, you can imagine the view).
We’ll see if this comes true, but if it does, that’s one hell of a draw for the building to use to get tenants, no?
